En este ensayo, Luis Alfonso Iglesias defiende la fiesta multiforme, exigiendo desenmascarar y repensar nuestra idea de diversión.  ¿Qué concepto tenemos de la fiesta? Para Luis Alfonso Iglesias, profesor de Filosofía, uno sesgado, cortoplacista, interesado y, sobre todo, falso. Por eso, plantea la necesidad de cambiarlo y ampliarlo. ¿Cómo? Empezando por rebatir la idea de que no puede haber fiesta sin la voracidad del consumo, el detestable narcisismo o el ruido insolidario. Este no es un ensayo contra la fiesta, sino una defensa de la fiesta multiforme, que exige desenmascarar el concepto tan vacuo de la diversión que hay en la sociedad y que debe ser repensado. La brevedad de la fiesta y su malinterpretada intensidad la convierten en un poderoso artefacto (otro más) de individualización desde un aparente aspecto comunitario. Fiesta significa ausencia de trabajo, disfrute de una colectividad, broma, e incluso palabra o gesto cariñoso… Urge recuperar un concepto de fiesta más ajustado al significado de este polisémico término.
